Lead Generation Intern

As a Lead Generation Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial growth of Goodfellow by identifying and qualifying potential and existing customers across multiple sectors including University, Research, Industrial, Electronics, Aerospace, Medical etc. This role is ideal for an undergraduate with an interest in science and business, and offers practical experience in a high-tech, research-driven environment.

Tasks & Responsibilities
• Generate and qualify leads for the Sales team through digital and call outreach (database work, and campaign support)
• Create and maintain accurate records of leads and interactions in the company’s CRM system (e.g., Salesforce).
• Support Account Managers with progression of Sales Leads through to qualified Business Opportunities to Converted Orders
• Work alongside the Regional Sales Managers to build targeted prospect lists for Lapsed customers, product categories, events, or campaigns.
• Identify and up-date contacts details within existing customer CRM records
• Support marketing and sales initiatives by tracking lead engagement and reporting on lead quality.
• Stay up to date with Goodfellow’s product offerings to effectively understand customer needs

Person Requirements
Essential:
• Currently enrolled in a STEM degree (e.g., Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering) or a Business-related degree with a strong interest in science and technology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – enthusiasm to engage with customers
• Curious, analytical mindset with the ability to conduct structured research.
• Ability to work independently, stay organised, and manage time effectively.

Desirable:
• Familiarity with systems (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Magento, PowerBI as well as customer-specific portals).
• Experience in a customer service, sales, or outreach role (can be academic or voluntary).
• Awareness of the role of materials in research and industry
• French / German language – written and spoken – to engage with customers in those markets
