Benefits of doing an Internship or a Student Placement

Internships can be a great way for university students and graduates to get valuable work experience in the area they are interested in. Internships can be classed as a 1 week to 12 month experience in an organisation, which can be paid or unpaid depending on Industry/Sector, and encompass the full range of professions, from Engineering to Accountancy and Marketing to IT.

Industrial Placement or a Student Placement is a ‘real’ work experience gained within a ‘real’ working environment that will complement and support the student’s degree qualification and provide mutual benefit to both the employer and the student.

Interns Placement Success Stories

“My placement has been incredibly enjoyable, if a little hectic at times. I have really enjoyed working with amazing people and seeing how detailed working in government is. I have had countless opportunities to get involved in really high profile events and projects. Although slightly daunting at first, it has been an eye-opening experience.

My advice to students would be to take advantage of every opportunity hat comes your way. You will get to work with so many different people and it is important to get as much variety out of your placement as possible. It’s also surprising how far the little things, like offering to make a cup of tea, go.”
