Hydraulic Model Library Coordinator
Job Description
Summary of responsibilities:
To administer Southern Water (SW) hydraulic network model library, the collection repository and the pre-construction and the hydraulic studies surveys, in accordance with the SW standard, procedures, and Modelling Specifications.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
The role will also entail managing and owning the procedures in relation to activities to ensure they are maintained and updated as required to align with process changes and software changes and actively engage with all parties to ensure guidance is available and current.
Manage SW hydraulic model library:
* Support the establishment of the Model Library in line with SW modelling specs.
* Set up and maintain all Model Library workgroup databases.
* Administer the movement of models in and out of the model library during the model life cycle.
* Undertake Model Confidence Scoring for identified models and maintain published results
Manage the procurement and technical aspects of the ETS preconstruction and the hydraulic studies surveys (Flow, Manhole, CCTV and Impermeable Area Surveys):
* Liaising with Engineers to record survey requirements.
* Producing the work package for the survey contractors.
* Using InfoAsset Manager, AssetMinor, MapInfo and PI Process Book to assist in the procurement of surveys
* Liaising with Operational Managers to arrange surveys.
* Adhere to the Southern Water Occupational Health & Safety Management of Contractors when engaging pre-construction contractors.
* Review data submissions to ensure they comply with specifications.
* Manage the performance of preconstruction and the hydraulic studies surveys. Liaise with the preconstruction suppliers and the Surveys Framework Manager to address performance issues.
* Balance cost efficiencies and delivery with respect to survey work, to get overall best value.
* Monitor quality and performance of Suppliers.
* Ensure repository is maintained and available for access across SW.
Person Requirements
* Undergraduates looking to take a year out in industry as part of their degree course
* Should be working towards a degree in environmental science, engineering, geography, or similar
* Strong verbal and report writing skills.
* Effective presentation skills.
* Clean driving license
Technical Skills:
* Practitioner in Esri ArcGIS
* Ability of writing scripts in Python
* Ability of writing scripts in R software
* Ability to interrogate data in a Microsoft Excel environment with Visual Basic programming
* Ability of writing SQLs
* Data analytical skills in FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) and/or equivalent application
*The student would need to have knowledge in these applications. However, we would be open to accept candidates who have knowledge in similar applications (as long as they understand the principals).
