A survey conducted by Endsleigh of over 3,000 UK university students reveals that they own an average of \u00a33,658 worth of technology \u2013 almost \u00a31,100 less than they did in 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite the overall value of student technology decreasing, results show that smartphone ownership has increased to 95% – 4% higher than a year ago.<\/p>\n

In addition, laptops ring in as one of the most popular items, with 91% of students saying they own one.<\/p>\n

Smartphones were considered top of the list of prized possessions for a majority of students (82%) while laptops were dropped to second place with only three quarters of students picking them as their top piece of tech.<\/p>\n

Nearly a quarter of students consider their tablets to be their most prized possession, but only 10% of students named their bike as such.<\/p>\n

Sara Newell, Manager of Student Markets at insurance provider Endsleigh, said that they\u2019ve seen a drastic change in what students bring to universities with them in a short amount of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith students now almost entirely reliant on these more sophisticated gadgets, it\u2019s vital that they consider insurance tailored to their specific needs in order to avoid any unexpected replacement costs which can be pricey,\u201d she says..<\/p>\n

The decrease in total average value of this technology comes in relation to the recent period of low inflation in the UK and the falling cost of some gadgets like TVs and laptops.
