Student Placement Guide<\/h2>\n

What is a Student Placement?<\/strong>
\nThis is when a student decides to take a year out of their university course studies (usually after their 2nd year) and work in the industry of their choice. This period, also known as an \u2018industrial placement\u2019, \u2018sandwich placement\u2019 or a \u2018year in industry\u2019, allows the undergraduate student to work full time during the third year and then return back to finish their final year of studies.<\/p>\n


\nHow long does the student placement last?<\/strong>
\nMany of the university degrees have a 10 \u2013 12 month period of employment built into the structure of the course and this is an integral part of a student\u2019s education.
\n* SES also recognises that any length work experience is a valid experience. Therefore, if the business wishes to offer a shorter duration, perhaps during the summer, then this is possible also. This is classed as an Internship<\/a>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n


\nWhen does the placement year commence?<\/strong>
\nOnce students have completed their exams, they can be available between June and September.<\/p>\n


\nWhen should you start advertising opportunities?<\/strong>
\nYou can start the process as early as October, when students are in their 2nd year of studies, once job description and salary is finalised.<\/p>\n
