(Wastewater Network)

Job Description
Are you studying an Environmental, Civil Engineering or Geography or similar degree? Have you recently graduated? Are you looking for a placement at the end of your second or third year? If so, our client Southern Water can offer you a superb opportunity to gain valuable work experience on their one-year placement programme.

During your 12 month placement with Southern Water you will spend your time in their Network Resilience Department where you will play a central role in producing operational plans to improve the performance of the wastewater network. This will involve working with colleagues in the Network Resilience Team, operational staff and contractors. You will participate in day to day operations of the team including performance meetings, data gathering and analysis, project tracking and the writing of operational plans

What you will be doing:
* Comprehensive induction to Southern Water
* Spend time working to learn their processes and gain in-depth insight into how the industry operates
* Support and lead continuous improvement processes, delivering improvements around resilience, safety and Pollution reduction.
* Be given direct responsibility for production of Operational Care Plans for specific wastewater network assets to help reduce pollution
* Learn transferable soft skills gain an excellent working knowledge of unit operations learnt at university with hands on practical experience
* Develop the ability to work with a variety of different colleagues in their operations i.e. operators, Maintenance technicians, supply chain and finance

Person Requirements
* Undergraduates looking to take a year out in industry as part of their degree course
* Open to recent Graduates
* Preferred Subjects: Environmental Management, Civil Engineering, Waste Management, Geography
* Able to take responsibility, want to gain hands on experience, and are curious and passionate to learn as well as being a strong communicator
* Able to disseminate information and present it in a simple and usable way
* Proficient with using Microsoft packages, superficially Word and Excel
* Able to visually interpret information on mapping systems (full training to be given)
* A strong interest in their business, their industry and in particular the position you have applied for
