Junior Innovation Consultant
Job Description
To support in the scoping and delivery of innovation projects within Southern Water.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Support in the delivery of innovation projects: enable our team to deliver benefits to SW
• Desk-based research & scoping: find technologies that might work for our stakeholders
• Qualitative & quantitative analysis: analyse results of our innovation pilots
• Support in iterative prototype testing & scaled pilot testing: help our stakeholders understand how the new technology could create benefits for them
• Support opportunity identification & gap analysis: help us find how we can help our customers and the environment
• Support business case development: drive the delivery of benefits into Southern Water
• Support and contribute to stakeholder management: work closely with colleagues in Southern Water to deliver transformative innovation
• Opportunity to deliver an independent research/innovation project
Background on the Innovation Team:
Bluewave is the home of innovation at Southern Water; a dynamic, ambitious team who act as the ‘connective glue’, bringing colleagues, partners and SMEs together to solve problems and demonstrate that change is possible. To work in this team, you need to:

The Bluewave team works with the whole Southern Water business – from HR to Wastewater Operations, Customer Services to Water Treatment – and so problems/opportunities are complex and varied. We work with colleagues to identify and investigate opportunities for change, trial new technologies, define process/capabilities, and design services with a focus on lean testing at pace.

There will be an opportunity to complete a research project during employment with the team. Freedom to shape and scope will be provided, but there will be a general focus around environmental sustainability.
Person Requirements
• Undergraduates looking to take a year out in industry as part of their degree course
• Pursuing studies in: Management, Innovation & Entrepreneurship; Computer Sciences; Informatic, Technology & Communication; Data Science; Psychology/Behavioural Sciences; Sciences (Chemistry; Biology; Physics), Geography
• Qualitative/Quantitively analysis
• Being able to understand and credibly communicate understanding of technical problems is a must
Desirable:
• Awareness of the Water Sector
• Project Management interest
• Understanding Innovation Management methodologies
