Fundraising Assistant Intern

Main Purpose of Job
To improve the sustainability of Dementia Adventure by supporting the Fundraising Manager to proactively secure funds from a range of existing and new income streams and supporting Dementia Adventure projects, such as volunteering, events or campaigns.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support the Fundraising Manager to implement the fundraising strategy in line with Dementia Adventure’s values
2. Assist the Fundraising Manager to broaden the mix of income streams by identifying new sources of funding such as government funding, trusts & foundations, challenge events, major donors, individual donations, corporate sponsors and legacy funding
3. Compile and send out information packs to potential donors, supporters and fundraisers, building positive working relationships
4. Support the Fundraising Manager in the preparation of new grant applications, including researching charitable trusts and foundations, drafting, editing, proof reading and managing online application forms
5. Collate and analyse fundraising data
6. Respond to fundraising enquiries via post, email and the website
7. Handle donations and grant payments and acknowledge/send thank you letters/emails
8. Update the CRM system
9. Act as a main point of contact for individuals fundraising on our behalf, including those undertaking challenges
10. Support the Head of Marketing to manage supplies of all fundraising merchandise
11. Research other income generation ideas
12. Develop and support engagement with projects, such as volunteering, events or campaigns, across Dementia Adventure
13. Assist in occasional other duties as senior management should request from time to time.

Key events requiring attendance:
The post holder will be required to attend the following events or appointments (dates to be confirmed):
* Interview with Rank Foundation and Dementia Adventure – late Autumn (tbc)
* Residential 2-day conference for both the Fundraising Manager and Intern – 15th/16th, 16th/17th or 17th/18th 2018
* Review event – 4th/5th, 5th/6th or 6th/7th June 2018
* Conference and showcase event – late September 2018 (tbc) Please note that all travel and accommodation costs will be covered.

Person Requirments
Personal Attributes:
* Committed to the work of Dementia Adventure
* A creative and proactive approach to all areas of work and the ability to work independently
* The ability to build good relationships with a wide range of people including donors, grant funders and beneficiaries
* Willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends to support fundraising events

Experience:
* Highly developed administrative skills
* Experience preparing reports and presentations
* Experience of building relationships a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, staff and partner organisations

Skills & Abilities:
* Educated to GCSE A level or equivalent
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent data analysis and research skills
* Understanding of the key areas of fundraising or working in a fundraising environment
* Excellent computer literacy skills including Microsoft Office, Google Services and Dropbox and CRM systems
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and cope with competing priorities
* Able to form positive relationships with volunteers, people living with dementia and other internal/external stakeholders
* Works well as part of a team
* Good influencing and persuasive skills
* Able to maintain and develop a team working approach
* To be aware of and sensitive to the needs and issues faced by people living with dementia and their carers
* Demonstrable commitment to the principles of equal opportunities and diversity
* Where possible, experience of campaigning to promote change
