Type: 12 Month Student Placement
Start Date: September 2015
Closing Date of Applications: 28/08/2015
On behalf of our client, Rolls Royce, we are currently recruiting a Cost Engineer to join them on a 12 month Placement starting asap.
Rolls Royce Product Cost Engineering are to develop a tool and translate an established value-driven design methodology (a.ka. matrix of trades) for identification of low cost product system architectures. Application of this tool will be on 5 product system/sub-systems towards rapid evaluation of value trades. A product system family is a collection of generic artefacts (e.g. requirements, house-style product architectures) which combine to form the basis of a particular project-specific product system. This task is inherently complex due to the sheer number of systems/sub-systems/components that have to be considered for particular system architecture. Effective evaluation of product unit cost at this early stage in the design lifecycle is crucial towards ensuring a competitive business case. Traditional sub-systems such as turbine, compressor sub-systems and novel manufacturing technologies are also in scope of the tool.
Rolls-Royce designs, develops, manufactures and services integrated power systems for use in the air, on land and at sea. They are one of the world’s leading producers of aero engines for large civil aircraft and corporate jets. They are the second largest provider of defence aero engines and services in the world.
