Sales & Operations Planning Specialist

Job Description
To ensure that systems/processes necessary to deliver the company’s products to the marketplace are maintained and delivered effectively, efficiently, on-time, to specification and in a cost effective manner. As the S&OP Manager, you will be developing, leading and executing the business’s S&OP strategy, yielding improved value/experience for customers and an enhanced revenue/margin growth for the business.

What the job entails
* Work with Sales Managers and others to design robust sales forecasting processes based on global pipelines or funnel
* Review, analysis and consolidation of forecasts to provide accurate and timely monthly information and analysis at product and customer level for designated customers or global supply levels
* Monitor volume / value performance against forecast and budget and provide analysis of variances
* Agree weekly estimate of current month’s sales volumes for further factory planning
* Facilitate the planning function, including creation of medium and long-term plans to meet the needs of the customer base (ongoing contract reviews)
* Drive and co-ordinate the Sales & Operations Plan (S&OP) including the creation of the S&OP plan, chairing the S&OP meeting and execution of the agreed plan
* Coordinate a cross functional team on planning through periodic requirement cycles insuring performance to expectation and identification and implementation of improvement activities
* Understand and communicate key issues / actions for the weekly / monthly S&OP meetings
* Monitor operational performance against agreed plans, identify capacity variances, and ensure effective utilization and delivery of capacity
* Encourage and promote operate in a continuous improvement environment
* Recommend and maintain optimal inventory levels and various stages in the supply chain to achieve customer satisfaction levels as well as mitigate inventory exposure
* Execute all facets of the S&OP process to provide an optimum customer service level and working capital performance
* Liaise with Material Planners on short term inventory status and establish variance on open order commitment and formulate adequate communication to customers
* Assist with run in/out of stock on new lines/deletions keeping redundant stock and recommend actions to resolve/improve
* Understand key issues on dumped/redundant stock and recommend actions to resolve/improve
* Monitor service levels and recommend methods to improve
* Work with supply chain to ensure early warning and quick reaction to potential supply issues and ensure most effective resolution

Person Requirements
Essential:
* Very good understanding of operational and planning processes
* High degree of numeracy and comfortable working with and manipulating data
* Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and improving a Sales and Operations planning process
* Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
* Comfortable in utilizing systems – e.g. SAP, Salesforce.com, Excel or other propriety forecasting software
* Customer facing, can do attitude
* Self-motivated – drive continuous improvement without external challenge
* Ability to work across functions, particularly commercial and supply

Desirable
* Understanding of Supply Chain operations and customer service
* Proven experience in Demand Planning role
