Materials and Process Modelling Engineer

Job Description
The Materials & Process Modelling team at Rolls-Royce is responsible for developing tools & methods for simulating manufacturing processes using techniques such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

This includes development of new simulation methods, validation of the simulation against experimental data, and working with end users to conduct pilot applications of the tools & methods and training in the tools & methods to deploy the capability to the wider Rolls-Royce Manufacturing and Design functions.

The role will also require the candidate to work with the Materials team to develop experimental plans, run experiments, and analyse the results.

Person Requirements
* The candidates will ideally be 2nd / 3rd year undergraduates from a Mechanical Engineering or Materials degree expecting a 1st or 2:1, although candidates studying Maths, Physics, and Computational Sciences may also be suitable.

*They should have a technical understanding of heat transfer, solid mechanics, and material science.

* Some practical experience of using numerical analysis software for FEA or CFD analysis is a bonus, as is some knowledge of the types of manufacturing process used in the Aerospace Industry.
