Community By Design

Job Information
This role offers one intern a unique opportunity to join a small multidisciplinary team and help coordinate marketing and social media activities. The project focuses on a functioning organic circular economy model, which revolves around sustainable food waste management, urban food growing and food preparation. A feature of the model is the use of micro anaerobic digestion, which turns food waste into renewable biogas and fertiliser to close the food-waste-energy loop.

We need interested interns to help us create and deliver a marketing strategy, focusing on social media and linking with a range of professional, community, permaculture and sustainability networks.

The role will include layout and design as well as communication, marketing and market research liaising with local stakeholder groups. The aim is to help support income generating activities so that the project can support itself and become a useful demonstration of urban sustainability.

Benefits

This is an opportunity to develop design and marketing skills and benefit from involvement with an innovative model of urban sustainability, gaining an understanding of circular resource management, community enterprise initiatives, renewable energy systems, sustainable waste management and urban agriculture. The Intern will be encouraged to use their initiative and creativity within a friendly team of like-minded people.

Company

Community by Design (CbD) is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company combining social and environmental objectives, to promote the move towards local resilience and sustainability. CbD manages LEAP, a cross-sector partnership focusing on the development of sustainable closed-loop food-waste-energy solutions, which combine micro anaerobic digestion, urban food production and community food enterprise opportunities.
