Our client in Rotherham are looking to recruit a Graduate or Trainee Process Automation Technician , the ideal candidate will have just come out of education , it will have built in salary and status reviews, Start salary may be higher if this is a 2nd job etc.

Purpose of Role – Development of new production test and assembly equipment with electronic, PLC logic or computer control within agreed time scales, budgets and company standards and procedures. Maintenance, repair and improvement of existing production test and assembly equipment, ensuring production efficiency can be met.

Duties
1. Customer Service – wherever possible, ensure what is required is what is provided.
2. Within the function responsibilities – manufacture, preventative maintenance and breakdown cover of all production test and assembly equipment.
3. To ensure adherence to internal order lead-times and hours and that purchased parts are booked to the correct internal orders and cost centres.
4. To ensure breakdowns are repaired with minimum disruption to production.
5. To recommend improvements to equipment to reduce downtime or increase efficiency.
6. To ensure accurate, up to date records of modifications and new equipment are kept. (Wiring diagrams, Programmes, Operating sequence, Planned maintenance and Modifications etc.)
7. To ensure equipment specifications are met and exceeded where practical.
8. To ensure all equipment manufacture and modifications comply with company standards.
9. To ensure that the interfaces between automation and other functions are fully effective.
10. To ensure full commitment and support for training, communications, environment health & safety (including IMS), quality policy (including IMS), housekeeping and personal discipline.

Job Scope
* Responsible for recommendations related to the improvement, specification, design, and manufacture of production test and assembly equipment.
* Predominantly plans, executes and monitors activity on a scale of hourly to weekly.
* Advises on capital expenditure of c£10,000 pa.
* Support and give a “back up” service to the Process Automation Leading Hand
* Internal Contacts – employees up to Department Managers as defined in the standing instruction manual, across all functions within company..
* External Contacts – Supplier’s and service providers up to supervisory level.

Job Requirements:

Preferred Education & Experience
* Formal electrical / electronic engineering qualification at ONC / HNC (or equivalent) (essential)
* Should be computer literate (desirable)
* Should be able to demonstrate a range of skills including team working, communication, planning and problem solving. (desirable)
* Any experience in relevant industry – not essential just an added bonus.
