No – the SES service is at no cost to universities or students. We work in conjunction with all UK universities to try and secure more placements for their students. Our aim is to promote placement students to organisations across the UK, as we fully understand the huge benefits that placement students bring. SES helps organisations with any recruitment and employment concerns they may have, and over the past 15 years we have employed thousands of placement students for a wide client base across the UK.

As placement tutors you will no doubt appreciate the difficulties experienced in trying to place your students into organisations. There are many reasons why an organisation cannot take your students on placement; SES exists to overcome some of these problems. SES was set up over 15 years ago, as a private concern, to specifically address the problems that our first client had in taking students on – namely headcount.

Our clients take advantage of the SES service because of the benefits of:

• no addition to their headcount
• overcoming budget constraints as we will invoice the budget of their choice enabling them to fund the student as a project
• we take care of all the admin and payroll freeing up their time to reap the benefits of working with the student
• we have 15 years experience so we are always on the end of the phone to answer any questions they or the student may have
• we will take care of the contract of employment that is based on their terms and conditions

No – we deal with all sectors of industry, and have placed students into as diverse organisations as central London investment banks, Scottish IT companies, Welsh environmental development organisations and Northern Irish councils. We have no geographical or industry sector restrictions – as long as the organisation is based in the UK we can work with them!

If you register yourself on the placement tutors page of our website this adds you to our automatic email list, so whenever we get any new placements we will contact you. We also have a UK wide database of university placement tutor contacts, so even if you haven’t registered already, we may well have contacted you in the past. As SES has been established for over 15 years, there are very few universities that we have not worked with previously.

Students must register themselves on the student pages of the SES website in order to apply for our available placements. All applications are made online via our bespoke application form. SES shortlists all applications received based on our clients’ criteria. You may want to forward the weblink www.studentemploymentservices.co.uk/student to your students so they can register themselves. Also, we automatically email all registered students when new placements go live on our site.
